Berry Color: red
Best Use: Table
Origin: California
Harvest Season: August

Description

Tear Drops is one of several trade names for the elongated grape IFG Twelve, which is also sold as Funny Fingers and Witch Fingers. A US court order lists Tear Drops as the registered trademark under which the Grapery markets IFG Twelve. The seedless berries are long, narrow and pointed, reddish-black to pinkish-red, with a mild flavour, and the bunches are naturally loose.

Characteristics

Trade name for IFG Twelve; reddish-black to pinkish-red seedless table grape; very long, narrow, pointed berries; mild flavour; naturally loose bunches; early season (mid to late July in California); licensed variety

Growing Tips

As IFG Twelve is a patented, licensed variety, legitimate vines are not sold to home gardeners. In patent trials near Delano the vine was vigorous and productive, typically spur-pruned to two-bud spurs, though the patent notes it may need cane pruning. The bunches are loose enough that no gibberellin thinning is needed. Grapery sells Tear Drops from late July.
