Description

Centennial Seedless is a white seedless grape bred by Harold Olmo and Albert Koyama at the University of California, Davis. It was released in 1980 and is used for both fresh eating and raisins. The large to very large bunches carry big, seedless berries with fairly thin skins, firm flesh and a very pleasant flavour. It ripens early, about a week and a half after Chasselas.

Characteristics

White seedless table and raisin grape; large berries; fairly thin skin; firm flesh; large to very large, moderately compact bunches; very vigorous; early ripening; moderate storage life

Growing Tips

Centennial Seedless is very vigorous, so give it a solid trellis and cane-prune it long. Go easy on leaf removal around the bunches: the thin-skinned berries brown easily in direct sun. Its stalks can shrivel quickly after picking and the berries then drop off, so eat or dry the crop soon rather than storing it for long.
