Description
Kodrianka (Codreanca in Romanian, also sold as Black Magic) is a black table grape bred in Moldova from Moldova × Marshalskii. Russia's state register, where it has been listed since 1997, calls it super-early, with a growing period of about 117 days, large conical bunches of around 600 g and very large, elongated black berries with crunchy flesh. It also travels well.
Characteristics
Black table grape, also usable for wine; very large elongated berries; crunchy, seeded flesh; conical bunches of about 600 g; super-early; vigorous; good downy mildew resistance; tolerant of phylloxera; transports well
Growing Tips
Kodrianka grows strongly, yet the register advises short pruning and only a moderate crop load. It resists downy mildew well and tolerates phylloxera. In areas where vines are normally covered for winter, the register says Kodrianka needs covering too, so lay the canes down and protect them before hard frosts arrive.
